In planning and designing my "cover" I needed another page to go with Sox's beautiful white one. Sox had made a page while I was visiting Palm Springs - I used that page and added some lace. Will show it here.
My design makes it necessary to add another signature (which means two new pages) so that I have an odd number for the spine detail. I thought how cool it would be to incorporate the ATCs that we all made before the start of the collaborative.

I took a beautiful velvet pouch that my friend Judy gave me years ago, shortened it by adding a seam and then put a zipper in so that the ATCs won't fall out. More surprises underneath! Sox gave me the little resin "woman in a shawl" to be included with the Blessing Pouch - however, I like it showcased here.
June 5, 2012 - Karen's Pages for Teri's Lacebook
Received Teri's LB when I returned home from work and began working on my pages at 9pm (well, had the transfers to fabric completed) - and, have only a small amount of hand stitching to do tomorrow... so, here are my photos. This was by far the easiest one for me - I have had the "music" and the transfers completed since February. Found the original sheet music at Rubylane (online) and the original magazine cover. The art work for them was done by famous painter Rolph Armstrong. I then recorded the music while my friend, concert pianist Maria Allison, played "Girl of Mine" on her baby grand piano at her home. There is a jump drive with the song in the beaded fringe pouch.
I had fun incorporating extra segments because I wanted to include more of the photos that I had found - thus, the flipping technique. Smiles.

There is a small ridge I inset just in front of the lace on Page 1 and I think I am going to picot bead along that area. Will post a new "detail" page tonight - hoping to do it over lunch today.

June 2, 2012 - Deb's Pages for Karen's Lacebook
Here are the two latest for my Lacebook and they have been sent from Montana already - anxious to see them. Deb finished both Teri's book and my book simultaneously. I will have Teri's to do and then all will be complete except for our own binding of the book. These were downloaded from our Yahoo group and I will take higher resolution photos when it gets here.

Views of the "stack" -- looking fabulous!
Below are photos of the front, back, and "opening triptych" Sox has done for my Lacebook. I am truly "blown-away" by the lovely contributions, the richness of texture, choice of images, luscious collage work, additional ideas in creativity and the "love" that each artist has put into her pages to give me. Sox had an idea and brought it to fuition in piece.
If anyone wishes to leave a comment, click on this "line" and it will take you back to the original blog post on the main page. Thank you.

February 28, 2012 - Liz's Pages for Karen's Lacebook.
I was so lucky and thrilled to actually view these pages "in person" when Liz and I were able to visit Sox for a day together in Palm Springs. Liz has a couple more detailed photos and when she gets them up on her Blog, I will post a link here. Liz made a little "blessing card" that is gorgeous and put it into the pocket of my original Page 2. I am so blessed with fabulous collaborative artists - these are amazing.

These pages go flat rate tomorrow to Teri in New York for her to add two pages. Had a fun day completing these. Yeah - until I get Sox's book next.

January 29, 2012 - "Madonna Lacebook" Pages from Teri, NYC
MUST post photos that Teri put up on her website showing her contribution to my lacebook. They are amazing: so rich in texture, beautiful images that she personally took at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and St. Patrick's Cathedral; and, unbelievable lace found in the NYC garment district. Wow - what access. I am so touched and honored to be in the company of these beautiful artists. There is a link (after the photos below) to her blog, in case you wish to roam over there, because Teri also posted a few "close up" shots.

January 8, 2012 - My Lacebook Collaborative Contributions
Will be putting my completed covers and two pages "up" as I finish each; they will be heading to NY this weekend. A couple people want to see them; LOL - my inner critic is cringing!

Suzy's ATCs arrived (along with the fabulous "winning" wall hanging that I now have to inspire me) Christmas Eve at 330pm - too late for me to post boxes that day with the closure at 2pm for mailing. So, boxes ready to head out (five shipping days before the end of the year, Tuesday through Saturday) - will see how long it takes, my dear lacebookies... our pre-cursor to the covers on the 15th is now complete. Oh, my, I better get busy!
Socrates (Sox) invited me to be part of a Lacebook Collaborative beginning January 15th. As a precursor to the event, all six of us did an ATC for each of the others based on our own chosen "theme." I completed mine last night. We are spread out geographically in New York, Idaho, Oregon, CA/Victoria BC, Australia and Alaska. Themes vary - vintage couples, a stitch in time, young woman in Paris, vintage gypsy, 1920s jazz age fashion, and mine, Madonna (Mary). Therefore, I am pulling lace and embellishments or obtaining a few odds and ends for these themes to do two pages for each of the books. Thought you might enjoy viewing my contribution.

Have always wanted to learn how to sew a zipper into a bag -- so, today took a class at our local J & H Sew and Vac where I recently took my free-motion class, also. Just knowing this method and no doubt making bags will be cool enough, but to use it in my "mixed media" will just be another skill to utilize. So, I was really pleased with the outcome.
My First "Snappy Bag"

Love it!
I have yet to learn using my portable sewing machine. I sew mostly by hand ;-)
Well done! I've yet to learn how to sew a zipper into anything, so I am doubly impressed.
NICE!
The work is so careful :o)!
The black and white and red is very striking!
The thin red is a great design element!! Also the decorative stitching!!
Beautiful bag! I'm not a sewer at all, so I envy those who have the skills.
Hi Karen, Thanks for stopping by. I'm a new follower on GFC. Would love for you to follow me too. Can't wait to see what else you are going to show us. Love, love, love the bag and some of your jewelery is stunning. Blessings, Nona@gr8day2save.com
You are so multi talented. The bag is gorgeous, and this is your first try? Store bought look for sure...and designer label. Which you ought to design, some designer labels to put in the items you make!! You must have a super sewing machine....mine is as ancient as the hills....stay warm. sharon
Love the bag, Karen! You obviously do not have my love/hate relationship with all sewing machines---lucky you! I sounds like you had a very good time in your class.
Love the bag, Karen! I am insanely jealous that you can sit down at a sewing machine and turn out such a cool bag. I have a love/hate relationship (very long standing) with any sewing machine, but obviously you are on very good terms with yours! What fun you must have had in your class.
What a fabulous job you had done on this lovely bag.
I'm starting my first quilting class Wednesday...we'll see how that goes.
That bag is completely gorgeous. Your first zipper? You did beautifully.
Thanks for posting the development of the ATCs. I could tell Marie had something around her neck, but I couldn't quite figure out what it was, even when I stroked it. Now I know.
